About Innovative Farming
Innovative Farming is currently focusing on
our product development plans for our ComBox remote control and security
device for farms. Once this exciting product becomes ready for commercial
trials the Innovative Farming program of activities will be resumed.
What do we do?
Hold farm management seminars for city resident
farmers in the Sydney CBD after hours on weeknights every two months.
Speakers are farmers or professionals who work closely with farmers.
They all think 'outside the square' and are credible and entertaining
speakers. More about our speakers.
Publish 'Innovative Farmer', a newsletter with
seminar previews/reviews and columns containing useful information written
by people with practical experience. No advertorial. More about our
writers.
Other services are planned including remote
monitoring and control of properties using equipment under development.
We have some information available on our prototype remote property
management technology, the ComBox.
Who are city resident farmers?
Pitt Street Farmers? Hobby farmers? No?
City resident farmers are people whose main residence is in the city
but who own and actively manage farms (often with the help of a manager).
Like country-based farmers, they are passionate about the land and seek to run their farms on a pragmatic business basis,
regardless of the size of their property or size of enterprise.
Who runs the community?
The community was established in October 2000
by software engineering company Object
Consulting (Object) as part of its marketing activities in rural
Australia.
Object has had an interest in the bush for many years, consulting on rural telecommunications issues. It is also
developing a ComBox remote monitoring and control device that will help address farm security problems.
Object is interested in city resident farmers because they are early adopters of innovations - including technology.
