ComBox at Mulloon

The busy streets of North Sydney are a world away from the lazy rolling hills of the Southern Tablelands. But with the help of a bunch of wireless sensors, actuators, a set-top box and some clever software, city dweller Gerry Carroll is still able to monitor what is happening on his cattle property at Mulloon Creek even when he isn't there.

What do the components look like?

  Water Management

Solar panels installed in the water tanks and troughs power the gauges that measure water levels. If it falls below a certain level, an alarm sounds.

  Cattle Monitoring

There is also a tag reader under the rim of the water trough to read stock RFID tags.

  Property Security

A sensor installed at the front gate informs alerts to any visitors, even if they are wandering cows!

  Weather Station

The weather station collects information and lets you know the weather from inside your house

  Electric Fence

Monitoring devices inform about which fences are energised without you having to make the journey to check.

Where are the components installed?
